The Telangana government has officially appointed former Member of Parliament and senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao as the adviser for the development of the Backward Classes (BC) welfare department. This appointment comes with the status equivalent to a minister of state, and the government has issued formal orders to this effect.
Compensation and Benefits
According to the government order, Rao will receive a monthly salary of Rs 1,00,000. In the event that a government quarter is not allotted to him, he will be eligible for a house rent allowance of Rs 50,000 per month. For official duties requiring the use of his personal vehicle, he will receive a conveyance allowance of Rs 30,000 per month, along with fuel expenses of Rs 15,000, which will be covered by the government. Additionally, he will have access to a government vehicle with a driver. He is also entitled to reimbursement of medical expenses on par with All India Services officers and ministers.
Support Staff and Budget Allocation
To facilitate the management of activities related to the BC welfare development advisory role, special staff will be allocated. This includes a private secretary, a data entry operator, two office subordinates, and a driver. The total expenditure incurred due to this appointment will be met from the regular budget of the BC welfare department, as stated in the orders issued by the Chief Secretary to the government, K Ramakrishna Rao.
This appointment underscores the government's commitment to the welfare and development of the Backward Classes in Telangana. The decision to appoint a senior political figure with extensive experience is expected to bring strategic insights and effective implementation of welfare schemes.
