Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has underscored the critical importance of delivering essential materials to students on time, emphasizing that timely provision of uniforms, notebooks, and other supplies will enable students to focus better on their studies.
Centralized Procurement System
During a review meeting held on Thursday evening, the Chief Minister assessed the centralized procurement of supplies for educational institutions under various departments, including education, BC, minority, tribal welfare, and SC development. He noted that the lack of a unified system in the past led to inconsistencies and irregularities, as each department managed its own procurement independently.
To address these issues, Reddy announced the implementation of a centralized procurement system designed to enhance accountability and streamline the distribution process. He directed that detailed measures be taken to ensure supplies reach schools and hostels in villages, and suggested capturing photos and videos of the distribution for accountability purposes.
Appointment of Nodal Officers
Revanth Reddy proposed appointing a nodal officer at the mandal level to oversee the distribution of materials. This step aims to improve coordination and ensure that every student receives the required supplies without delay.
Quality and Timeliness
The Chief Minister stressed the dual importance of timely delivery and quality assurance. He instructed officials to ensure that all materials provided to students—including notebooks, trunks, plates, glasses, tracksuits, bed sheets, school bags, ID cards, and uniforms—are of high quality. He reiterated that the government's goal is to benefit students, not suppliers, and warned that any irregularities in the supply of uniforms, notebooks, and trunks would not be tolerated.
All necessary materials must reach students by June 15, with payments to suppliers processed only upon confirmed delivery, he ordered.
Accountability and Feedback
Reddy ordered a comprehensive check to guarantee that every student receives the requisite materials. Additionally, he recommended gathering feedback from students regarding the quality of notebooks, uniforms, and other supplies after their distribution. This feedback will help ensure continuous improvement in the procurement and distribution process.
Dedicated Committee for Coordination
To facilitate better coordination among the SC, ST, BC, minority, and education departments, Revanth Reddy called for the establishment of a dedicated committee. This committee will oversee the entire process and address any issues that arise during implementation.
