The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) and Telangana Teaching Government Doctors Association (TTGDA) on Thursday voiced their apprehension regarding the prolonged delays in the ongoing transfer process within the medical and health department. They urged the state government to implement Government Order No 38 without any deviations.
Concerns Over Definition Changes
Addressing the media at the directorate of medical education (DME) office in Koti, the associations opposed any move to alter the definitions of 'focal' and 'non-focal' areas. They warned that such changes could lead to dissatisfaction and discrimination among doctors.
Delays Creating Uncertainty
The doctors highlighted that many have been awaiting transfers for years, and further delays are fostering uncertainty. A TGGDA leader stated, "Request transfers should have a minimum two-year eligibility period, and doctors working in rural areas should not be shifted compulsorily unless they seek transfer voluntarily. We also want offline counselling to ensure transparency and fairness."
Demands for Hyderabad Postings
TTGDA leaders noted that several Hyderabad-based doctors were transferred to peripheral areas during the 2024 transfer cycle. They argued that those who have served long in remote regions now deserve postings in Hyderabad or nearby locations. The associations urged the government to complete the transfers before May 31.
