Chennai: In a significant austerity measure, Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has reduced the number of vehicles in his official convoy from ten to four. This decision, effective immediately, applies to all official movements and visits to government and private events.

Officials confirmed that the reduction aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for fuel conservation and greater use of public transport. The move is part of broader efforts to promote sustainable practices and reduce unnecessary expenditure.
New Convoy Arrangement
Under the revised arrangement, only four police security vehicles will accompany the Governor. The remaining six vehicles have been withdrawn from regular deployment. This streamlined convoy is expected to lower fuel consumption and operational costs.
