Chennai: In a unique initiative to understand the ground realities of public transport, Tamil Nadu State Transport Minister A Vijay Tamilan Parthiban traveled with passengers in a government bus on Friday. The minister interacted with commuters, drivers, and conductors to gain firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced in public transport services.
Minister Boards MTC Bus at Saidapet
The minister boarded a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus at Saidapet, purchased a ticket, and traveled till Guindy Race Course. During the journey, he engaged with passengers, inquiring about the facilities available in government buses and whether they faced any inconvenience while traveling. He assured them that their grievances would be brought to the attention of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and addressed without any delay.
Interaction with Staff and Commuters
Minister Parthiban also spoke with the bus driver and conductor, asking about difficulties they encounter during their duty hours. He listened to their concerns and noted down suggestions for improvement. At the Guindy Race Course bus stop, the minister met passengers waiting for buses and asked whether services were operating on time and if enough buses were available on various routes. He emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing public transport facilities and ensuring a comfortable travel experience for all citizens.
This initiative is part of the state government's ongoing efforts to improve public transport services by directly engaging with users and staff.
