The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) has officially commenced a comprehensive beautification project for three prominent public gardens in the city. Mayor Inaugurates Project with Focus on Green Cover Enhancement
Mayor Ashwini Kamlesh Nikam personally inaugurated the project, highlighting its dual objectives of increasing green cover and providing enhanced recreational facilities. "We are committed to making these gardens more accessible and citizen-friendly," Nikam stated during the ceremony. "Our vision includes creating healthier environments through strategic tree plantation and modern amenities."
Three Key Gardens Identified for Transformation
The gardens selected for this ambitious transformation include:
- Rajiv Gandhi Garden (commonly known as Sapna Garden)
- Sai Vasan Shah Garden
- Prabhat Garden
Civic officials confirmed that all three locations will receive substantial upgrades while maintaining a strong focus on environmental conservation principles.
Comprehensive Amenities and Eco-Friendly Features
The beautification plan incorporates a wide range of modern facilities designed to improve visitor experience:
- New tree plantations to significantly boost greenery
- Installation of music systems for devotional songs and soothing tunes during morning and evening walks
- Construction of dedicated pink toilets for women
- Development of a botanical garden section
- Installation of gazebos for visitor comfort and shelter

Mayor Nikam revealed that Member of Parliament Shrikant Shinde has facilitated government allocation of approximately Rs 6.9 crore for the project.
