UP Chief Secretary Chairs Meeting for UP Diwas 2026 Preparations

Chief Secretary SP Goyal led a high-level meeting in Lucknow on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing detailed plans for Uttar Pradesh Diwas 2026. This annual event celebrates the foundation day of the state.

Celebration Dates and Theme

The Uttar Pradesh Diwas festivities will officially run from January 24 to January 26, 2026. The government has chosen a powerful theme for the celebrations: ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Uttar Pradesh’. This theme translates to ‘Developed India, Developed Uttar Pradesh’.

Key Features and Attractions

The state government will set up several special stalls during the event. These stalls will serve multiple purposes. Some will publicize various government schemes to inform citizens. Others will exhibit and sell products under the popular ‘One District-One Product’ initiative.

Visitors can also look forward to stalls dedicated to ‘One District-One Cuisine’. These will offer a taste of local culinary specialties from across Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, special exhibitions will highlight the achievements of Mission Shakti and celebrate the spirit of Vande Mataram.

The government plans to honor individuals who have performed exemplary work in different fields. This recognition ceremony will be a highlight of the celebrations.

International Outreach and Competitions

Chief Secretary SP Goyal discussed expanding the celebrations globally. Programs are planned in five countries: Fiji, Mauritius, Maldives, Singapore, and Thailand. He instructed the MSME and tourism departments to provide souvenirs for these international events.

A structured competition schedule will engage communities at all levels. Competitions will start at the gram panchayat, block, and tehsil levels from January 10 to 15. District-level contests will follow at divisional headquarters from January 17 to 19.

Division-level competitions will take place in Lucknow on January 22. Winners will rehearse in the state capital on January 23, with the prize distribution ceremony scheduled for January 24.

Associated Events and Preparations

The celebrations coincide with other important national days. January 25 will be observed as National Tourism Day and Voter Awareness Day. The festivities will conclude with Republic Day celebrations on January 26.

A special sanitation drive is already underway across the state. Launched on January 12 by the Urban Development and Panchayati Raj departments, this cleanliness program will continue until January 23.

Additionally, a blackout mock drill is scheduled for all districts on January 23. This drill marks Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti and serves as a preparedness exercise.
