UP Minister Takes Strict Measures Against Defaulting Builders in Noida

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's industrial development minister, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, on Tuesday directed officials to take strict action against defaulting builders and expedite the resolution of builder-buyer disputes in Noida. He also flagged alleged irregularities in project allotments and civic contracts during a review of the Noida Industrial Development Authority's projects.

Focus on Stalled Housing Projects and Pending Registrations

Nandi emphasized that stalled housing projects and pending flat registrations must be resolved on a priority basis. Referring to the Amitabh Kant Committee recommendations, officials informed the minister that 57 projects had been brought under the policy framework. Of these, 36 builders deposited 25% of the required amount, while six failed to make any payment.

Expressing concern over the hardships faced by homebuyers, Nandi noted that many families continued to live in rented accommodation despite investing their life savings in flats. He directed authorities to initiate action against specific builders, including Sunshine Infra, Mahagun, Antariksh Developers, and Perfect Asotech.

Inquiry into Single-Bid Allotments and Long-Standing Contracts

The minister also sought a report on allotments made through single bids and questioned why one firm had allegedly continued to receive water supply and toilet maintenance contracts for several years. He ordered an inquiry into past tenders and said that firms found guilty of irregularities should be blacklisted.

Measures for Plot Allotments and Urban Development

Nandi further directed officials to clear the backlog of 5% plot allotments within three months and intensify action against illegal encroachments and unauthorized construction in Noida. He also asked authorities to improve sanitation, greenery, and beautification across the city's 168 sectors.
