Uttar Pradesh Leads Demand-Based Power Supply, Surpassing Major States
Uttar Pradesh Tops Demand-Based Power Supply Among States

Uttar Pradesh has emerged as one of the leading states in demand-based power supply, surpassing major states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, according to official figures released by the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).

Record Power Supply During Peak Summer

The achievement comes amid rising electricity demand during the peak summer season, with the government claiming that the power supply system has remained stable and efficient. UPPCL data showed that Uttar Pradesh supplied around 28,000 MW of demand-based electricity on June 2, significantly higher than Tamil Nadu’s 19,198 MW, Karnataka’s 13,848 MW, and Andhra Pradesh’s 13,018 MW. The state had also supplied electricity against a demand of 27,260 MW on June 1 and 24,610 MW on May 31.

During the night of June 2-3, power supply touched 28,770 MW at 12:21 am. The corporation supplied 28,321 MW at 1 am and 26,830 MW at 3 am. On June 3, demand-based supply stood at 23,459 MW at 6 am, 22,452 MW at 9 am, 24,074 MW at 10 am, 24,897 MW at 11 am, and 25,076 MW at noon.

Disruptions Due to Storms and Restoration Efforts

However, recent storms and strong winds disrupted power supply in some areas. UPPCL said electricity supply was restored promptly in most affected locations, while repair and maintenance work is continuing in parts of Mau, Ghazipur, and Sonbhadra. Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) and UPPCL Chairman Ashish Kumar Goel directed officials to immediately communicate information regarding power disruptions to both consumers and the media. Goel further directed that complaints received through the 1912 helpline be resolved on priority.

UPPCL Director (Distribution) Gyanendra Dhar Dwivedi said field teams are continuously engaged in restoration work wherever supply has been affected due to adverse weather conditions. The corporation remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the state.
