Varanasi District Magistrate Conducts Surprise Hospital Inspections

In a move to bolster healthcare standards, District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar carried out unannounced inspections at three key medical facilities in Varanasi on Saturday. The visits targeted SSPG Divisional Hospital, Women's District Hospital, and Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Government District Hospital, where Kumar meticulously reviewed operational systems and issued immediate directives to senior medical officials.

Focus on Infrastructure and Cleanliness at Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital

At Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Government District Hospital, the DM identified several areas requiring urgent attention. He directed staff to repair a toilet in the CT scan building and address persistent water leakage from a tank on an adjacent building. Emphasizing the need for better hygiene, Kumar ordered enhanced cleanliness arrangements across the premises.

To expedite repairs, he instructed officials to appoint plumbers and technicians on an outsourcing basis. Additionally, the engineer from the rural engineering department was tasked with preparing estimates for minor works. Kumar also interacted with an attendant carrying a stretcher for a patient, leading to a directive for the ACMO to ensure that hospital staff, including ward boys, nursing aids, attendants, and paramedics, are consistently deployed and present on duty.

Comprehensive Review of Hospital Facilities

The inspection extended to the Trauma Centre's emergency ward, operation theatre, ECG room, store room, and other critical areas, where Kumar assessed existing arrangements. He directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to clean and sanitize the dialysis unit thoroughly. Furthermore, Kumar reviewed the progress of the under-construction medical college at the same hospital, underscoring the importance of timely completion for improved healthcare infrastructure.

Inspections at SSPG Divisional Hospital and Women's Hospital

Later, Kumar visited SSPG Divisional Hospital in Kabirchaura and the Government Women's Hospital. At these facilities, he examined the functionality of essential medical equipment, including incubators, autoclaves, and time totalisers, ensuring they are operational and effectively supporting patient care.

Throughout the inspections, Kumar issued directives to the CMO, CMS, and doctors present on-site, emphasizing accountability and prompt action. This initiative aims to address gaps in hospital management and enhance the overall quality of healthcare services in Varanasi, reflecting a proactive approach to public health governance.
