The Varanasi Municipal Corporation has given its approval for the relocation of meat and fish shops from the city center to designated areas on the outskirts. This decision aims to enhance cleanliness and reduce traffic congestion in the densely populated city.
First Phase Locations Identified
Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal informed the municipal house that five specific locations have been identified in the first phase of the project. These sites are situated on the periphery of Varanasi to ensure minimal disruption to residents and businesses.
The initiative is part of a broader urban planning strategy to streamline commercial activities and improve the overall living environment. The selected locations will provide adequate infrastructure for the shops, including proper drainage and waste disposal facilities.
Implementation Timeline
Officials stated that the relocation process will be carried out in a phased manner. The first phase is expected to be completed within the next six months, with shop owners being given sufficient notice and support to transition smoothly.
The corporation has also assured that compensation and assistance will be provided to eligible vendors to facilitate the move. Public feedback will be collected to address any concerns during the implementation.
This decision is expected to benefit both residents and shopkeepers by creating a more organized and hygienic environment for meat and fish trade in the city.
