Varanasi Energy Minister AK Sharma Directs Officials to Ensure Uninterrupted Power Supply Ahead of Summer

In a proactive move ahead of the impending peak summer season, Energy Minister AK Sharma on Thursday demanded a comprehensive report on the current status of power supply across Varanasi. The minister emphasized that maintaining an uninterrupted electricity supply is the topmost priority, and any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Minister Issues Strict Directives for Power Infrastructure and Maintenance

Sharma instructed officials to complete all necessary preparations to prevent any inconvenience to consumers during the hot months. He specifically directed that adequate availability of essential equipment be ensured at all substations and that Rapid Response Teams (RRT) remain fully active and prepared to handle any emergencies swiftly.

After conducting a thorough review of the ongoing underground cabling works, the minister ordered officials to complete these projects within the stipulated timelines without delay. He stressed the urgent need to replace dilapidated wires, resolve overloading issues, and develop safe, permanent structures to replace temporary bamboo and wooden poles within one month.

The minister highlighted the importance of balanced power distribution in both urban and rural areas to avoid unnecessary power cuts. He called for expediting all maintenance works and issued a stern warning that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any officials found lax in their duties.

Sharma also sought detailed information on recurring tripping problems and directed the implementation of effective steps to minimize these disruptions to the lowest possible level. Furthermore, he requested updates on the power supply status at critical locations such as the railway station, airport, Sankat Mochan Mandir, and Taj Hotel, ordering that seamless electricity supply be guaranteed at these sites.

Ensuring Robust Systems at Religious and Tourist Spots

Emphasizing the need for visitor convenience, Sharma stated that robust electrical systems must be ensured at all religious and tourist spots across Varanasi. During a review of eastern Uttar Pradesh's power supply situation, the minister underscored the critical importance of vigilance, accountability, and enhanced coordination among all officials to achieve these goals effectively.
