Water Supply to Be Temporarily Disrupted in Multiple Vizag Areas on March 23

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has announced a planned interruption in the drinking water supply for several parts of the city on Saturday, March 23. This temporary disruption is necessary to facilitate the replacement of old motors at the main pumping station that transfers water from the town service reservoir to the high-level reservoir. The civic body is installing new, more efficient motors to improve the long-term reliability and performance of the city's water distribution infrastructure.

Comprehensive List of Affected Localities and Wards

The water supply issue will impact numerous residential and commercial areas across three municipal zones. Residents in the following locations are advised to store water in advance and cooperate with the authorities during this essential maintenance work.

East Zone Impact Areas

Ward 20: The affected neighborhoods include East Point Colony and Peda Waltair.

Ward 21: This ward encompasses a wide area, including Tamil Street, Vidyanagar Colony, Relli Veedhi, the area down from Andhra University outgate, the vicinity down from the old CBI office, Maitri Nagar, Vinayagar Apartments, Kirlampudi Layout, the swimming pool area, Pandurangapuram beach road, Ocean View Layout, and the Chinna Waltair Area.

Ward 22: Disruptions will occur in Balaji Nagar, the area around the Times of India office, and Siddhartha Nagar.

Ward 28: This includes Facor Layout, Ram Nagar, and the surrounding localities.

North and South Zone Impact Areas

In the GVMC North Zone, Ward 24 will be affected, covering Old Resapuvanipalem, Vinayak Nagar, Tulasi Oeta, and the Swarnabharati stadium area.

The South Zone will see disruptions in several key areas, including Ashok Nagar, Rama Talkies Road, Srinagar, Budhil Road, Reddy Hospital Road, Srinagar Saibaba Temple Road, Dwarka Nagar Road (specifically lanes one through six), Amar Nagar Church Road, CBM Compound, and Ramatakes Ladies booking road.

Official Request for Public Cooperation

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg has formally requested all residents in the listed areas to prepare for this temporary interruption and extend their full cooperation to the municipal teams. This proactive maintenance is crucial for ensuring a consistent and improved water supply in the future, and public understanding is vital for the smooth execution of the motor replacement project.
