Vadodara Municipal Corporation Relocates Florists and Clears Vehicles Around Nyay Mandir
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has taken significant steps to enhance the surroundings of the city's heritage monuments. As part of a dedicated drive to clear space around these historical sites, the VMC has successfully relocated florists who had been conducting business near Nyay Mandir for several decades. These vendors have now been provided with an alternative space near Laheripura Gate, ensuring their livelihoods are preserved while contributing to the monument's beautification.
Decades-Old Florist Operations Relocated
For many years, florists operated near Nyay Mandir, becoming a familiar part of the local landscape. However, in line with the VMC's initiative to create a cleaner and more accessible environment around heritage structures, these vendors were moved to a new location. On Tuesday, they officially shifted to the space near Laheripura Gate, where they will continue their business operations. Sources within the VMC noted that these florists were the only street vendors active in the area during daytime hours for a considerable period.
Vehicle Removal and Road Clearing Efforts
In addition to relocating the florists, the VMC's drive also focused on removing vehicles that had been parked around Nyay Mandir. It was discovered that several vehicles had been stationed near the monument for an extended duration. These, along with other incorrectly parked vehicles, were promptly removed to free up space and improve the monument's aesthetic appeal.
The cleanup operation extended beyond Nyay Mandir, with the city police and VMC collaborating to clear roads in key areas such as Mangal Bazaar, Kalamandir lane, and Kalupura. During this comprehensive drive, both encroachments and vehicles parked on the roads were addressed, contributing to smoother traffic flow and enhanced urban cleanliness.
Future Development Plans for Nyay Mandir
Nyay Mandir, which was vacated in March 2018 following the establishment of the new court complex in Diwalipura, is set to undergo a transformation. The monument is planned to be developed into a vibrant centre featuring a city museum, gallery, and other modern facilities. This redevelopment aims to preserve its historical significance while making it a hub for cultural and educational activities in Vadodara.
The VMC's efforts underscore a commitment to balancing heritage conservation with urban development, ensuring that Vadodara's rich history is celebrated in a well-maintained and accessible manner.
