Water Release Ordered for Drinking Water Tanks in Dharwad

Dharwad: To ensure the filling of drinking water tanks in various villages of Navalgund, Annigeri, Hubballi, and Kundgol taluks of Dharwad district, the Regional Commissioner has ordered the release of water from the Renukasagar reservoir near Savadatti into the Malaprabha Right Bank Canal and the Naragund branch canal from May 1 to May 10.

Purpose of Water Release

Deputy Commissioner Snehal R stated that water will be released through the Malaprabha Right Bank Canal and the Naragund branch canal during this period strictly for the purpose of filling drinking water tanks. The use of this water for agriculture or any other purposes has been completely prohibited.

Restrictions and Warnings

People and farmers in the command area of the canals have been instructed not to draw water using pump sets or any other equipment. The deputy commissioner has urged all residents and farmers to cooperate in ensuring that the water is used only for drinking purposes. She also warned that if anyone is found violating the restrictions and using canal water for purposes other than intended, pump sets and other equipment will be seized and legal action will be taken as per rules.
