Massive Financial Boost for Mizoram Farmers

In a significant development for agricultural communities in Northeast India, 1,17,786 farmers from Mizoram received substantial financial support through the central government's flagship PM-Kisan Scheme. The funds were disbursed on Wednesday during the release of the 21st instalment of the program that has been running since 2019.

Direct Benefit Transfer Reaches Farmers

The financial assistance totaling over Rs 23.55 crore was transferred directly to beneficiaries' accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This transparent mechanism ensures that funds reach intended recipients without intermediaries or delays.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed the PM-Kisan Scheme instalment to over 9 crore farmers nationwide from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The virtual event connected agricultural communities across India, demonstrating the scheme's pan-India reach.

Mizoram's Participation in National Event

In Mizoram, the fund release program was attended by state officials through video conference. R Lalnunzira, Director of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare represented the state administration during the virtual event.

The ceremony also saw participation from Special Secretary Ramdinliani and officials from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). A large number of PM-KISAN beneficiaries joined the video conference, highlighting the scheme's popularity among farming communities in the northeastern state.

Under the PM-Kisan Scheme, each registered farmer receives Rs 6,000 annually, distributed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. This financial support aims to supplement farmers' income and help them meet agricultural expenses.

The successful implementation of this instalment marks another milestone in the central government's efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector and support farmers' livelihoods across India, including in northeastern states like Mizoram.
