Bokaro: An anganwadi worker in the district has been removed from service after it emerged that she had taken money from beneficiaries of the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana for carrying out their verification.

Incident Details

The matter came to light on May 22 when a video surfaced on social media allegedly showing Kumari Seema, an anganwadi worker from the Choufan North centre, demanding money from beneficiaries during physical verification for the scheme. The clip quickly went viral, prompting public outrage and administrative scrutiny.

Investigation and Action

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha set up a committee to probe the allegations. After a detailed investigation, the committee confirmed that monetary transactions had indeed taken place between the anganwadi worker and beneficiaries during the verification process. Based on the findings, the removal of Kumari Seema from service with immediate effect was ordered.
