Uttarakhand Chief Minister Reviews Progress of Champawat's Ambitious Science Centre
During a significant visit to Champawat district on Tuesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a detailed on-site inspection of the under-construction state-of-the-art science centre. According to an official release, this major educational infrastructure project is being developed at an approximate cost of Rs 55.52 crore.
Comprehensive Construction Review and Official Directives
The chief minister meticulously examined the quality, progress, and timeliness of the ongoing construction work. He issued essential directions to concerned officials, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards throughout the development process. CM Dhami specifically reviewed the proposed scientific galleries and the comprehensive four-storey science campus facilities that will form the core of this educational hub.
Extensive Campus Facilities and Residential Components
The ambitious science campus will feature a hostel accommodating 40 students, staff quarters, and various essential amenities. This residential component is designed to transform the centre into a crucial scientific learning environment for students from across the state. The director general of UCOST, Durgesh Pant, provided detailed information about the facility's specialized components during the inspection.
Specialized Scientific Galleries and Exhibition Spaces
The two-storey science gallery block will include multiple specialized areas:
- A "Fun Science Gallery" designed to make scientific concepts accessible and engaging
- Multiple exhibition halls for showcasing scientific achievements and innovations
- Dedicated science and agriculture galleries highlighting practical applications
- A comprehensive training hall for workshops and educational programs
- A modern astronomy gallery featuring cutting-edge space science exhibits
Advanced Auditorium and Planetarium Facilities
The premises will also boast a 120-seat auditorium for lectures and presentations, along with a sophisticated 71-seat planetarium featuring both inner and outer dome facilities. Additionally, world-class conference and development halls will be available for staff training and professional collaboration.

Following the construction inspection, Chief Minister Dhami reviewed science models prepared by students from various schools. He engaged in meaningful interactions with these young innovators, offering encouragement and recognizing their scientific curiosity.
