Maharashtra CM Relief Fund to Approve Applications in Just 8 Working Hours
The process for approving and disbursing financial assistance from the Chief Minister Relief Fund in Maharashtra is poised for a dramatic acceleration. In a significant move aimed at providing timely medical aid, applications will now be approved within eight working hours of submission. This expedited timeline is part of a comprehensive overhaul that includes the imminent launch of a new online system designed to streamline the entire procedure.
Expediting Medical Aid for the Needy
This initiative is expected to significantly expedite financial assistance for medical treatment, particularly benefiting needy patients and individuals from economically weaker sections. Rameshwar Naik, Head of the CM's assistance fund and charitable hospitals assistance cell, emphasized that the online system is being developed with the primary objective of ensuring patients receive medical treatment on time.
"The application approval process would be completed within just eight office hours, provided all documents are in order and in compliance with the regulations," Naik stated, highlighting the efficiency-driven approach of the new framework.
Statewide Implementation and Pilot Project
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is scheduled to officially inaugurate the new system soon, after which it will be effectively implemented across the entire state. Currently, a pilot project is being tested to iron out any operational issues. During this phase, needy patients can contact the toll-free number 1800 123 2211 for assistance and inquiries.
Streamlined Process for Charitable Hospitals
In tandem with the CM's assistance cell, an updated online system for charitable hospitals is also being launched. Under this new system, hospitals affiliated with the cell can directly submit applications on behalf of patients, eliminating the need for patients or their families to fill out forms. This change is designed to streamline the process and accelerate approvals further.
Scale and Scope of the CM Relief Fund
Naik provided detailed insights into the fund's operations, noting that the CM Relief Fund boasts the largest network of over 4,000 empanelled hospitals across Maharashtra. In the last financial year alone, it provided assistance to 40,776 patients and disbursed over Rs 333 crore for medical treatments. The scheme covers over 20 different diseases, offering broad support for various health conditions.
Simplified Eligibility and Documentation
The eligibility criteria for assistance remain focused on economic need, with an income threshold of Rs 1.5 lakh per month. The documentation process has been simplified: patients only need to submit their Aadhaar card and income certificate. The hospital administration will handle the remaining required documents, reducing the burden on patients and their families.
Ongoing Patient-Friendly Initiatives
Over the past year, concerted efforts have been underway to implement innovative, patient-friendly changes within both the CM's assistance fund and the charitable hospitals assistance cell. The new online system for the CM Relief Fund is an integral part of these ongoing initiatives. Once a patient provides all requisite documents to the hospital administration, the application will be forwarded electronically to the CM's assistance fund office for swift approval.
"The initiative will provide immense relief to patients and their relatives," added Naik, underscoring the human impact of these administrative improvements. This digital transformation represents a major step forward in making critical healthcare financial support more accessible and responsive for the people of Maharashtra.
