At the camp held in Karhibazar village, the chief minister's interactions with ordinary beneficiaries drew attention when he helped 76-year-old Govardhan Dhruv, 65-year-old Anupkunwar Pal, and two school children wear prescription spectacles distributed under a health initiative. For the elderly beneficiaries, the moment was unexpectedly personal when they tried reading again, their eyesight restored with the new glasses.
Children Express Gratitude
The camp witnessed another emotional scene when two children — Samira Jangde and Nitin Patel — handed over thank-you cards to the chief minister for helping save their lives through the Chiranjeevi health scheme. Nine-year-old Samira, from Lachhanpur village, had undergone a major operation in Raipur last year after health workers identified her condition during a village-level screening. Her father said she earlier struggled even to walk to school because of breathing difficulties. “The scheme gave our children a new life,” one of the parents told the chief minister during the interaction, highlighting the transformative impact of the government's healthcare initiative.
Women Beneficiaries Share Stories
Sai was also seen interacting with women beneficiaries of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, many of whom said the monthly financial support had become a crucial cushion for families dependent on daily wage labour. Some women told the chief minister they were using the money to pay school expenses for their children, while others said they had started saving small amounts for the future. Rukhamani Pal, whose husband works as a labourer, said the assistance was helping her support the education of her daughters. Another beneficiary, Dhanmata Pal, said the monthly amount had reduced financial stress at home and encouraged savings for her children, enabling them to plan for a better future.
