Durg District Maintains Leadership in PMAY-G Performance Across Chhattisgarh
In the latest performance assessment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Durg district has once again secured the top position in Chhattisgarh. The district achieved an impressive average performance score of 89.5% across four critical evaluation indicators, reinforcing its consistent leadership in the state's rural housing initiative.
Steady Rankings and Notable Improvements
Surajpur and Raipur districts followed closely, holding their previous second and third positions respectively. Durg Collector Abhijit Singh attributed this sustained success to dedicated and continuous efforts in driving the scheme's implementation on the ground.
Dhamtari district demonstrated positive movement by climbing one spot to secure the fourth rank, displacing Balod which slipped to fifth position. However, the most remarkable advancement came from Koriya district, which jumped three places from 17th to 14th rank in the weekly assessment. Koriya also achieved the highest sanction rate in the entire state at an exceptional 108.6%.
Areas of Concern and Declining Performance
In contrast to these successes, Korba and Gariaband districts both experienced setbacks, each dropping two positions in the rankings. Korba fell from 6th to 8th place, while Gariaband moved from 14th to 16th position.
The performance report highlights significant challenges in the southern districts of Chhattisgarh. Bijapur remains at the bottom of the list with an average score of just 50.2% and a completion rate of only 24.6%. Sukma and Narayanpur districts also feature in the bottom three positions, with average scores of 64.1% and 64.8% respectively.
State-Wide Progress and Targets
Across Chhattisgarh, the current average for house completion under PMAY-G stands at 70.2%. The state has an ambitious target of constructing 26.27 lakh houses under this flagship rural housing scheme. The weekly performance rankings serve as a crucial monitoring mechanism to track implementation progress and identify areas requiring additional focus and resources.
The varying performance across districts underscores the complex challenges in implementing large-scale housing initiatives across diverse geographical and administrative landscapes. While some districts like Durg have established effective implementation systems, others in the southern region continue to struggle with execution challenges that require targeted interventions.
