Government to Expedite Resolution of DDA and L&DO Property Conversion Issue
In a significant development for property owners in Delhi, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal announced on Tuesday that the government will soon resolve the long-pending issue of converting DDA and L&DO properties from leasehold to freehold. This move aims to address the concerns of numerous allottees who have been facing delays in this critical process.
Long Waits for Property Owners
Currently, a large number of allottees in DDA colonies have been waiting for over three months to convert their properties to freehold. In contrast, owners of L&DO properties have endured a much longer wait of nearly two years. These delays have caused significant inconvenience and uncertainty for residents seeking to secure full ownership rights over their properties.
Cabinet Approval for Conversion Rates
Responding to questions, Minister Manohar Lal stated that the government will approach the Cabinet soon to finalize the conversion rates for leasehold properties to freehold. He emphasized that once these rates are finalized and approved by the Cabinet, the conversion process will resume promptly. This step is expected to streamline the procedure and provide clarity to property owners.
Unified Circle Rates to Ease Inconvenience
The minister highlighted that earlier, the Delhi government, L&DO, and DDA followed different circle rates, which created confusion and inconvenience for citizens. To resolve this issue, a notification was issued on January 1, stating that once the Delhi government implements its circle rates, those same rates will automatically be considered applicable to both DDA and L&DO. This unification is intended to simplify the conversion process and ensure consistency.
Delhi Master Plan 2041 Finalization
In addition to addressing the conversion issue, Minister Manohar Lal mentioned that the Delhi Master Plan 2041 would be finalized soon. This comprehensive plan is expected to guide urban development and property management in the capital for the coming decades, potentially impacting future property regulations and conversions.
The government's proactive steps signal a commitment to resolving property-related grievances and enhancing the ease of living for Delhi residents. Property owners are advised to stay updated on further announcements regarding the conversion rates and process resumption.
