The Himachal Pradesh Veterinary Officers Association, during its general house-cum-seminar held in Shimla, has demanded the restoration of the Assured Career Progression Scheme (ACP) and the Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) for veterinarians employed under the state government. The event was presided over by Animal Husbandry Minister Chander Kumar.
Minister Announces Committee to Examine ACP Restoration
Minister Chander Kumar stated that a departmental committee would be constituted to examine the issue of restoring the ACP and submit a report, enabling the matter to be pursued effectively at the government level. The assurance came during the association's meeting, where key demands were placed before the minister.
New Executive Body Elected
The association conducted elections during the general house, forming a new executive body for the forthcoming term. Dr Rajnish Bharol was elected president, Dr Tarun Thakur as general secretary, and Dr Rajender Rajta as finance secretary. The newly elected office-bearers pledged to work collectively for the welfare of veterinary officers and the advancement of animal healthcare services across Himachal Pradesh.
Key Resolutions and Future Focus
The association resolved to pursue critical issues concerning the veterinary profession, including the restoration and implementation of ACP benefits, resolution of NPA-related demands, and strengthening of veterinary infrastructure throughout the state. According to the office-bearers, special emphasis will be laid on upgrading veterinary hospitals, polyclinics, dispensaries, diagnostic facilities, and staff support systems to enhance service delivery to livestock farmers.
