Preparations have officially commenced for the highly anticipated foundation stone-laying ceremony of the second phase of the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Vikas Yojana (MGNVY), a massive infrastructure project valued at Rs 165 crore in Mangaluru. MLC Ivan D'Souza chaired a preliminary meeting on Tuesday to outline the details and logistics for this significant urban development initiative.

The foundation stone for the second phase of the MGNVY, which falls within the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits, will be laid on April 18. The ceremony will be graced by urban development minister Byrathi Suresh and Dakshina Kannada district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, highlighting the state government's commitment to the project. D'Souza emphasized that the state government's release of funds for these long-pending concrete roads and other essential infrastructure is both commendable and praiseworthy, addressing critical needs in the city.

This phase of the MGNVY will see the commencement of over 100 roads and various other development projects, evenly distributed across all 60 wards of the Mangaluru City Corporation.
