Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Greenlights Massive Rural Development Push
In a significant move aimed at boosting rural infrastructure and supporting farmers, the Madhya Pradesh state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, has approved a comprehensive package of development projects and financial allocations totaling thousands of crores of rupees. The decisions were made during a recent cabinet meeting, focusing on enhancing irrigation, health, education, and road networks across the state.
Enhanced Compensation for Farmers in Land Acquisition
A key highlight of the cabinet's approvals is the decision to provide farmers with compensation at four times the market rate for the acquisition of agricultural land in rural areas. This policy is designed to ensure fair and generous remuneration for landowners, addressing long-standing concerns about inadequate compensation during infrastructure development projects. The move is expected to facilitate smoother land acquisition processes while safeguarding the economic interests of the farming community.
Major Financial Allocations for Infrastructure Development
The cabinet has sanctioned a substantial sum of Rs. 33,985 crore dedicated to the development of critical infrastructure. This funding will be channeled into various sectors including irrigation, health, education, and roads, aiming to improve connectivity and public services in rural and urban areas alike. Additionally, an approval of Rs. 25,164 crore has been granted for development works under the Public Works department, further bolstering the state's construction and maintenance initiatives.
Specific Project Approvals and Rehabilitation Measures
Several targeted projects have received the cabinet's nod, including:
- Indokh-Rudhahera Micro Irrigation Project: An allocation of Rs. 157 crore 14 lakh to enhance water efficiency and agricultural productivity in the region.
- Chhindwara Irrigation Complex Project: A special rehabilitation package of Rs. 969 crore has been approved to support affected communities and ensure sustainable development.
- Free Bicycle Distribution Scheme: A budget of Rs. 2,190 crore 44 lakh has been set aside for distributing free bicycles to students and upgrading educational institutions, promoting accessibility and quality in education.
Healthcare and Administrative Enhancements
In the health sector, the cabinet has approved Rs. 5,479 crore for advancing medical services across the state. This includes the establishment of family housing facilities in government medical colleges, aimed at improving living conditions for medical staff and their families. On the administrative front, the creation of 15 new posts has been sanctioned to effectively carry out the functions of the Sixth State Finance Commission, ensuring robust financial governance.
Youth Development Initiatives
To foster youth engagement and professional growth, the cabinet has allocated Rs. 24 crore for the Chief Minister's Young Professionals for Development Program. This initiative is designed to empower young individuals with skills and opportunities to contribute to the state's developmental agenda.
The approvals underscore the state government's commitment to holistic rural development, economic growth, and social welfare, with a focus on equitable compensation for farmers and enhanced public infrastructure.
