Chief Minister Naidu Launches Major E-Cycle Initiative for Women in Kuppam
In a significant move aimed at fostering women empowerment and environmental sustainability, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu distributed 5,555 e-cycles to women beneficiaries at his home constituency of Kuppam in Chittoor district on Saturday. This initiative underscores the state government's strong commitment to supporting women while addressing ecological concerns through innovative solutions.
Record-Breaking Distribution and Symbolic Rally
The distribution of e-cycles was accomplished within an impressive record span of just 24 hours, highlighting the efficiency and dedication behind this program. In a symbolic gesture, Chief Minister Naidu himself pedaled an e-cycle as part of a rally from Sivapuram village to the Praja Vedika venue at Thumsi village, demonstrating his personal involvement and endorsement of the initiative.
Financial and Environmental Benefits Highlighted
During the event, Naidu emphasized the dual benefits of the e-cycles. He stated that each woman beneficiary, including students, could save between Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per month by using these vehicles instead of traditional transport methods. Moreover, the chief minister highlighted the environmental impact, noting that the e-cycles will help protect the environment in a significant way. The e-cycles, supplied by the e-Motarad company, were assembled locally in Kuppam itself, supporting local employment and manufacturing. These e-cycles can be charged using rooftop solar panels, making them highly energy-efficient and accessible even in areas with limited electricity infrastructure. With a travel range of up to 60 kilometres on a single charge, they offer a practical and sustainable alternative for daily commutes.

Reflecting on the political context, Naidu connected the initiative to the Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) election symbol, the cycle. He remarked that as people supported the cycle during the elections, the coalition government has now made their dreams a reality by providing these e-cycles.
