Nanded School Enrolment Festival to Boost ZP Admissions

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Nanded district administration on Thursday announced a district-wide “Shala Praveshotsav” (School Enrolment Festival) on June 15, marking the start of the 2026-27 academic year, in a bid to boost enrolment in Zilla Parishad (ZP) schools across rural areas.

The initiative, conceptualised by collector Rahul Kardile, will see officers from various departments visiting village schools to assess infrastructure, educational facilities and overall preparedness, and submit detailed reports to the administration. “On the opening day, officials will make motivational visits, review academic functioning, evaluate teaching standards and take stock of available amenities. They have been encouraged to adopt a school for the year and actively engage with students, teachers, school management committees, gram panchayat representatives and local villagers to promote enrolment in ZP schools,” Kardile said.

District officials said the programme aimed to build a positive perception of government schools among parents and communities, encouraging more students to opt for rural ZP institutes. “During the drive, officers will inspect classrooms, sports facilities, supplementary education arrangements, nutrition programmes, and hygiene practices. They will also identify shortcomings like unsafe buildings, damaged classrooms and non-functional toilets that require urgent intervention,” an official said.

As part of the initiative, Kardile will visit a school in Maralk (Nanded taluka). ZP chief executive officer Meghna Kavali will visit a girls’ school in Mukhed, while superintendent of police Abinash Kumar will attend the programme in Usmannagar (Kandhar taluka). Municipal commissioner Dr Maheshkumar Doifode is scheduled to visit the ZP Central Primary School in Juna Kautha.

Several other senior officials will also tour schools across the district on June 15 to interact with stakeholders and assess readiness for the new academic year. The administration hopes the initiative will strengthen public trust in ZP schools and lead to increased enrolment.
