The Nashik Zilla Parishad (ZP) has achieved a significant milestone in rural development by facilitating the construction of more than 75,000 homes under various housing schemes. These newly built residences are set to be officially handed over to the beneficiaries on Republic Day, marking a momentous occasion for the district.
Completion of Construction and Payments
Omkar Pawar, the Chief Executive Officer of Nashik Zilla Parishad, confirmed that both the construction work and the corresponding payments to the beneficiaries have been successfully completed. "The construction and payments to the beneficiaries, respectively, were completed. They will now move to their new homes on Republic Day," Pawar stated, highlighting the timely execution of this ambitious project.
Breakdown of Housing Schemes
According to detailed reports from the District Rural Development Agency, a substantial portion of these homes—51,000 houses—were constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), a flagship central government initiative aimed at providing affordable housing. The remaining 24,000 houses were built through various state government-sponsored schemes, demonstrating a collaborative effort between different levels of governance.
Coordinated Efforts for Successful Implementation
The successful implementation of this housing initiative was made possible through the seamless coordination of multiple departments. "This initiative was successfully implemented through the coordination of the various departments. The Nashik ZP remains committed to fulfilling the dream of ‘housing for all' in rural areas," the CEO emphasized. The acceleration of housing projects in Nashik district was achieved by working closely with the district administration, Panchayati Raj institutions, and Gram Panchayats, leading to the positive outcomes now evident across the region.
Republic Day Handover Ceremony
On Monday, Republic Day, a special ceremony will be held where elected representatives, district and taluka administration officials, and gram panchayat office-bearers will formally hand over the keys of the new houses to the beneficiaries. This event symbolizes the culmination of extensive planning and hard work, bringing joy and stability to thousands of families.
Inclusive Beneficiary Coverage
The beneficiaries of this housing initiative represent a diverse cross-section of society, ensuring inclusivity and support for the most vulnerable groups. They include:
- Homeless individuals from Scheduled Castes and Tribes
- Members of nomadic and denotified tribes
- Low-income groups
- Widowed women
- Persons with disabilities
- Economically weaker sections
This comprehensive approach underscores the commitment to social equity and the broader goal of providing secure housing for all residents in rural Nashik.
