Odisha Government Unveils 'Aarohan' Initiative to Enhance Early Childhood Education
On Tuesday, coinciding with Maha Bishuba Sankranti and the Odia New Year, the Odisha state government officially launched the 'Aarohan' initiative. This program is specifically designed to strengthen early childhood education and support critical brain development in young children.
Inauguration and Key Objectives
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also holds the portfolio for Women and Child Development, formally inaugurated the program at the ICWS campus in Bhubaneswar. During the event, Parida interacted with children and distributed special 'Aarohan' kits. These kits are intended to aid children as they transition from anganwadi centers to the next educational stage, known as 'Bal Vatika'.
Parida emphasized the vital importance of the first six years of a child's life for brain development. She stated that the government is making early childhood care a top priority, integrating it into the broader framework of Poshan Pakhya-2026. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed that for the initiative to succeed, families and communities must play an active and collaborative role alongside government efforts in nurturing children.
Coordinated Efforts for Holistic Development
Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the department, Mrunalini Darswal, highlighted the necessity of coordinated efforts. She pointed out that anganwadi workers and departmental officials must work in unison to improve service quality and ensure the holistic development of every child.
The launch event saw participation from several key officials, including Additional Secretary and Director-in-Charge Swoyam Prabha Mohanty, Additional Secretaries Itishree Das and N C Jyoti Ranjan. Senior officials, representatives from partner organizations, anganwadi workers, and parents from across the region were also in attendance, underscoring the community-wide support for the 'Aarohan' initiative.
The 'Aarohan' program marks a significant step by the Odisha government to invest in the foundational years of education, aiming to build a stronger future for the state's youngest citizens through enhanced early learning and developmental support.
