PM Modi Distributes 61,000 Appointment Letters at Rozgar Mela

In a significant boost to youth employment initiatives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed over 61,000 appointment letters to newly recruited individuals during the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela, which was held in the national capital, New Delhi. The Prime Minister addressed the gathering through a virtual mode, emphasizing that these appointment letters serve as an "invitation to nation building" and reminded the young recruits of their profound duty towards the Indian Constitution.

Auspicious Timing and Constitutional Connection

Speaking at the event, PM Modi highlighted the symbolic timing of the distribution, noting that it coincided with the commencement of the new year and the recent celebration of Basant Panchami. "The commencement of the new year has brought happiness in your lives. With that, when Basant Panchami was celebrated yesterday itself, in your life too a new 'vasant' has started. Your duty has been connected to the Constitution," he stated. The Prime Minister further connected the occasion to other significant dates, including Parakram Diwas on January 23, honoring Subhash Chandra Bose, and National Voters Day on January 25, underscoring the importance of civic engagement and national pride.

Rozgar Mela as a Mission for Employment

PM Modi elaborated on the government's commitment to linking youth with skills and providing employment opportunities, describing the Rozgar Mela as a key initiative launched in "mission mode" to streamline government job recruitment. Over the past few years, this program has evolved into an institutional framework, facilitating the distribution of appointment letters to lakhs of youth across various government departments. Currently, Rozgar Melas are being organized at more than 40 locations across different states, reflecting a widespread effort to address unemployment and harness the potential of India's young population.

Global Opportunities and Infrastructure Development

The Prime Minister also touched upon India's position as one of the youngest countries globally and the government's ongoing efforts to create more opportunities for its youth. He mentioned that India is actively negotiating trade and mobility agreements with multiple countries, including discussions on free trade agreements (FTAs) with the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, alongside a finalized FTA with New Zealand in December 2025. "These trade agreements bring in new opportunities for the youth of India," PM Modi asserted, linking international partnerships to domestic job creation.

In addition to trade, the Prime Minister highlighted the substantial investments in world-class infrastructure, which have led to a surge in employment within the construction sector. He also praised the rapid growth of India's startup ecosystem, noting that there are approximately 2 lakh registered startups employing over 21 lakh youth. "Digital India has propped up a new economy. India is becoming a global hub in sectors like animation and digital media," he said, emphasizing the expanding creator economy as a source of fresh opportunities for the younger generation.

Strengthening National Systems

During his address, PM Modi outlined how the new recruits would contribute to various critical sectors. "You all, along with your colleagues, will make our country's defence better and also strengthen our healthcare and education system, while others will strengthen energy security," he remarked, framing the appointment letters as a "sankalp patra" to accelerate India to new heights. The event was attended by Union Minister Jitendra Singh, along with several Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, CRPF personnel, and defence officials, underscoring the multi-faceted impact of the Rozgar Mela on national development.
