Rajasthan aims daytime power for farmers by 2027

Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stated on Thursday that Rajasthan is working towards providing daytime electricity to farmers across all districts by the year 2027. This initiative is currently operational in 24 districts and is set to be expanded statewide.

GRAM-2026 Investor Meet Highlights

Speaking at the GRAM-2026 Investor Meet held in New Delhi, Sharma emphasized that the state government is prioritizing the strengthening of agriculture through infrastructure development and technology-driven measures. He extended an invitation to investors and entrepreneurs to participate in the Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM)-2026, scheduled to take place in Jaipur from May 23 to 25.

Sharma noted that the event aims to bring together farmers, experts, policymakers, and investors to foster agricultural innovation and support the vision of a more robust farming sector. He added that GRAM-related activities are being organized from the Girdawar circle level up to the district level to ensure wider participation from farmers.

One-on-One Discussions and International Engagement

On the sidelines of the investor meet, Sharma held individual discussions with trade representatives, entrepreneurs, and startups. He also met with embassy officials from Canada, Russia, Australia, Italy, Brazil, Vietnam, and Argentina to explore potential agricultural investment opportunities. The talks covered various topics, including Russian drone technology, Canadian stubble management techniques, Brazilian soybean production methods, and methanol production from maize.

Sharma instructed officials to deepen engagement with countries that are leaders in agricultural innovation, enabling Rajasthan to adopt advanced technologies. He stated that the investor meet would connect farmers with both domestic and global markets, support agri-startups, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the rural economy.

Rajasthan's Agricultural Output and Investment Scope

Highlighting the state's agricultural output, Sharma pointed out that Rajasthan leads in the production of crops such as bajra, mustard, oilseeds, barley, guar, isabgol, and cumin. This creates significant opportunities for investment in food processing, spice parks, and agri-exports.

He further mentioned that more than 1,500 agricultural processing units have already been established, and land has been identified for food parks. Additionally, efforts are underway to boost the dairy, fisheries, and animal husbandry sectors.

GRAM Outreach Programmes

Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena announced that GRAM outreach programmes will also be conducted in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Pune. He said the event will feature discussions with policymakers, scientists, and agricultural experts, along with special sessions titled 'Jajam Chaupal'. Initiatives promoting women entrepreneurship and agri-startups will also be highlighted.

The state government's focus on agriculture through such initiatives aims to transform the farming landscape in Rajasthan, leveraging technology and global partnerships to ensure sustainable growth.
