Rajasthan Aims for 43,000 Piped Gas Connections by June

The Rajasthan state government has identified 132 LPG-free zones and set a target of providing Domestic Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) connections to 43,000 households by the end of June, aiming to reduce dependence on LPG cylinders, chief secretary V Srinivas announced on Monday.

Meeting Highlights

Chairing a meeting of City Gas Distribution Companies (CGD), Srinivas noted that approximately 7,400 DPNG connections have been issued in the past 15 days alone. He directed CGD companies to prioritize the identified LPG-free zones to ensure all families in these areas are brought under the piped gas network.

Coordination and Awareness

Srinivas instructed district supply officers to collaborate closely with CGD companies to expedite the rollout of connections in areas where infrastructure already exists. He emphasized the need for public awareness campaigns to encourage households to adopt piped gas services.

Industrial and Commercial Progress

Additional chief secretary (mines and petroleum), Aparna Arora, highlighted substantial progress in industrial and commercial gas connections due to the state’s monitoring and coordination efforts. Over the past two months, 669 industrial pipeline gas connections have been issued, including 33 new industrial units. During the same period, 740 commercial gas connections were provided, encompassing 133 new commercial establishments.

The initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of LPG usage across the state.
