Rajasthan Government Sets Ambitious Target for Youth Self-Employment Scheme
The state government of Rajasthan has established a significant goal to benefit 30,000 young individuals under the Chief Minister's Youth Self-Employment Scheme during the financial year 2026–27. Preparations for the implementation of this initiative are currently in progress, with the industries and commerce department taking proactive steps to ensure its success.
Accelerated Application Process to Boost Disbursal
To expedite the loan disbursal process, the industries and commerce department plans to forward 60,000 applications to banks by June 2026. This number is double the annual target, reflecting a strategic push to support youth entrepreneurship. According to a senior official from the department, 30,000 applications will be submitted in April, followed by 15,000 each in May and June.
Comprehensive Loan Structure for Diverse Educational Backgrounds
The scheme offers tailored financial support based on educational qualifications:
- For applicants who have passed Classes 8–12: Interest-free loans of up to Rs 3.5 lakh for service and trade sectors, and up to Rs 7.5 lakh for manufacturing. They are also eligible for margin money support of up to Rs 35,000.
- For graduates, ITI-certified candidates, and those with higher educational qualifications: Interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh for service and trade sectors, and up to Rs 10 lakh for manufacturing, along with margin money assistance of up to Rs 50,000.
District-Level Implementation and Current Progress
Districts across Rajasthan have been instructed to forward double the number of applications relative to their assigned targets within fixed timelines. Industries and Commerce Commissioner Neelabh Saxena reported that more than 73,000 applications have already been received from individuals seeking financial support to start their own businesses. These applications represent a cumulative loan demand of approximately Rs 3,580 crore. To date, over 31,000 applications have been forwarded to banks by district industries centres.
Scheme Launch and Government Vision
The Chief Minister's Youth Self-Employment Scheme was officially launched by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on January 12, 2026, with the application process commencing on January 22. Saxena emphasized that the government aims to create a robust self-employment ecosystem by extending financial assistance to a large number of youth. Continuous monitoring at the headquarters level is being undertaken to ensure effective implementation of the scheme.
Application Process and Documentation Requirements
Department officials have outlined that eligible youths can apply online through their SSO ID or via e-Mitra centres. Required documents include an Aadhaar card, domicile certificate, photograph, and proof of educational and technical qualifications. For institutional applications, documents proving at least 51% ownership are mandatory. This streamlined process is designed to facilitate easy access to the scheme's benefits.
