Rajasthan Government Guarantees Adequate Fertilizer Supply for Kharif Season
As the kharif season approaches, the Rajasthan government has provided firm assurances to farmers regarding the ample availability of urea and other essential fertilizers. This commitment comes alongside intensified monitoring efforts aimed at curbing hoarding and black marketing activities across the state.
Strong Stock Position and Distribution Plans
Officials confirmed on Saturday that Rajasthan currently maintains a robust stock position, particularly for urea, with reserves at 3.67 lakh metric tonnes. This figure surpasses last year's levels, ensuring a solid foundation for the upcoming agricultural period. In addition to urea, the state holds 0.82 lakh metric tonnes of DAP (Diammonium Phosphate), 0.66 lakh metric tonnes of NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium), and 1.94 lakh metric tonnes of SSP (Single Super Phosphate). Authorities have emphasized that these stocks are sufficient to meet the initial demand from farmers, with no major shortages anticipated.
Strict Enforcement and Monitoring Measures
Chairing a recent review meeting, Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena highlighted the government's commitment to strict enforcement. "We will not allow black marketing of fertilizers," Meena stated firmly. "Checkposts have been established in border districts for rigorous monitoring, and surprise inspections will be intensified under the Essential Commodities Act to ensure timely and equitable distribution." The minister expressed confidence in the procurement process for kharif, noting that even during the previous rabi season, no significant shortages occurred.
Central Support and Balanced Fertilizer Use
For the kharif season of 2026, the central government has allocated 11 lakh metric tonnes of urea to Rajasthan, further bolstering supply assurances. Officials have been directed to promote balanced fertilizer usage among farmers, encouraging a reduction in overdependence on urea. Alternatives such as SSP and NPK, along with scientific nutrient management practices, are being advocated to enhance agricultural sustainability and efficiency.

With adequate stock levels and stricter oversight mechanisms in place, the Rajasthan government aims to ensure a smooth and hassle-free kharif season. By preventing supply distortions and maintaining vigilant distribution channels, the state seeks to support farmers in achieving optimal crop yields without disruptions.
