Rajasthan Urges Blend of Traditional and Digital Outreach

Rajasthan Chief Secretary Advocates for Integrated Communication Approach

In a significant move to improve public engagement, Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas on Thursday called upon various state departments to effectively combine traditional outreach methods with modern digital communication tools. The objective is to ensure that government schemes and programmes reach citizens more efficiently and have a greater impact on their lives.

Emphasis on Social Media and Innovative Platforms

During a workshop held in Jaipur, Chief Secretary Srinivas highlighted the transformative potential of social media and other innovative digital platforms. "Social media and innovative platforms can significantly enhance the reach and impact of government initiatives," he stated. He urged officials to move beyond conventional methods and leverage these tools to connect with a broader audience, particularly the youth and tech-savvy population.

Union I&B Secretary Stresses Simplicity in Messaging

Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju, who also addressed the gathering, underscored the critical importance of crafting messages that are simple, relatable, and trustworthy. "Information should be easy to understand, reliable, and emotionally engaging," Jaju emphasized. He pointed to successful national campaigns as benchmarks for effective communication.

"Successful campaigns such as the GST Savings Festival, ‘Har Ghar Tiranga', and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan demonstrate that clear and simple communication works best," he added, suggesting that Rajasthan adopt similar strategies to maximize the effectiveness of its outreach efforts.

Workshop Presentations on Strategic Communication

The workshop featured detailed presentations by senior officials from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), including Director General Anupama Bhatnagar and Principal Director General B Narayanan. They outlined comprehensive strategies for:

  • Optimizing social media use to engage diverse demographic groups.
  • Developing platform-specific communication tactics tailored to different digital channels.
  • Enhancing public interaction and feedback mechanisms through digital tools.

These presentations aimed to equip state department officials with practical insights and actionable plans to improve their communication frameworks.

Rajasthan Information Department's Commitment to Implementation

Rajasthan Information Secretary Sandesh Nayak affirmed the department's commitment to adopting the suggestions discussed during the workshop. "The department would implement the suggestions to strengthen the reach of government schemes," Nayak said. This includes revising current communication protocols and integrating more digital elements into their outreach programmes to ensure better citizen engagement and scheme awareness.

The initiative reflects a broader trend in governance where digital transformation is being prioritized to bridge the gap between government initiatives and public awareness, ultimately aiming for more inclusive and effective administration.
