Trichy: The agriculture and farmers welfare department has issued a strong appeal to farmers, urging them to update their details in the farmers' registry to avoid losing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. With only two weeks remaining until the deadline, approximately 20% of farmers in Trichy and the delta districts have yet to enrol in the registry.
PM Kisan Scheme Overview
The PM-KISAN scheme provides an annual financial benefit of Rs 6,000 to eligible farmers, disbursed in three equal installments. The department has stressed that only those farmers who update their land ownership and crop cultivation details will continue to receive the money. This update is crucial for ensuring uninterrupted benefits.
Electronic Data Collection
The state department is collecting farmers' details electronically to prevent delays and ensure timely delivery of benefits under various government schemes. In Trichy, around 99,661 farmers are eligible for benefits under the scheme. As of Wednesday, 82,146 farmers have registered their details and received special identification numbers.
How to Update Details
Officials have advised farmers to approach the horticulture or agriculture department or common service centers (CSCs) to update their land ownership details and link the necessary documents. This process is essential to remain in the system and continue receiving benefits.
Farmers are encouraged to act promptly to avoid missing out on the financial support provided by the PM-KISAN scheme. The deadline is approaching fast, and those who fail to update their details may lose their eligibility.
