The state of Uttar Pradesh is significantly ramping up its efforts to establish itself as a premier destination for clean energy investment, with solar power adoption now gaining substantial traction across multiple districts. A crucial pre-event awareness program for the highly anticipated Uttar Pradesh Energy Expo (UPEX) 2026 was successfully conducted at Vikas Bhawan in Gorakhpur this past Friday.

This important gathering was meticulously organized by the Uttar Pradesh State Chapter of the PHD Chamber of Commerce in partnership with First View. The event attracted active participation from pivotal organizations including UPNEDA (Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency), Invest UP, and numerous industry stakeholders. The central focus of the discussions remained firmly on the transformative PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a flagship government scheme specifically designed to promote and facilitate rooftop solar installations for households.

Addressing the assembled audience, Satish Kumar Singh, who serves as the DDO and project officer for UPNEDA, emphasized that renewable energy is absolutely fundamental to achieving sustainable development goals. He pointed out that central government initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar scheme and the PM-KUSUM program are proving highly effective in encouraging a broad spectrum of users—including households, agricultural farmers, and industrial units—to make the crucial transition to solar power.
Singh provided a significant data point, revealing that as of March 31, more than 9,500 homes in the Gorakhpur district alone have successfully installed solar panel systems. He stressed the ongoing necessity for continuous public awareness campaigns to sustain this momentum. Furthermore, he identified four essential pillars that constitute the green energy ecosystem: end-users, equipment vendors, financial institutions like banks, and the state power department.

Pankaj Srivastava, the conference co-convener, shared important details regarding the main event. The Uttar Pradesh Energy Expo (UPEX) 2026 is scheduled to take place from May 7 to May 9, 2026, at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan venue in Lucknow. The expo is expected to be a major industry showcase, featuring over 150 exhibitors and approximately 60 expert speakers from the renewable energy sector.
Financial Support and Future Awareness Drives
Representatives from banking institutions present at the event highlighted the availability of easy credit facilities and government subsidies to lower the financial barriers for solar adoption. The organizers confirmed that similar awareness and outreach programs will continue across the state. The next scheduled event is set to be held in the state capital, Lucknow, on April 24, as part of a sustained campaign to educate and engage potential solar energy adopters.
