UP Government's Mass Wedding Ceremony Unites 187 Couples in Lucknow
The Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board successfully organized a significant mass marriage ceremony on Wednesday, bringing together 187 couples from across six districts of the Lucknow division. The event was conducted under the state government's Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana, a welfare scheme specifically designed to support the marriages of construction workers' families.

The ceremony took place at the culturally significant Awadh Shilpgram venue in Lucknow, serving as a central location for participants from multiple districts. The participating couples traveled from:

Among the 187 couples who benefited from this initiative, the religious composition included 176 Hindu couples and 11 Muslim couples, demonstrating the scheme's inclusive approach across communities.

State Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar emphasized the government's dedication to worker welfare during the ceremony. He stated that the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana has evolved into an effective mechanism for providing both economic stability and social security to labor households throughout Uttar Pradesh.
"This scheme ensures dignity and community support for beneficiaries while addressing their financial needs during important life events," Minister Rajbhar explained. "Our government remains committed to strengthening the welfare infrastructure for workers and their families across the state."
Each newly married couple received substantial financial assistance of Rs85,000 under the scheme. Official certificates sanctioning this aid were formally distributed to all beneficiaries at the conclusion of the program, ensuring proper documentation of the support provided.

The mass wedding ceremony was enriched by vibrant cultural performances from artists hailing from Ambedkar Nagar. These performers presented traditional wedding songs that added authenticity and celebratory atmosphere to the occasion.
Beyond the government's financial assistance, additional support came from political representatives. BJP Sarojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh distributed clothing items and a token gift of Rs501 to each couple, further enhancing the support package provided to the newlyweds.
