UP Police Welfare Body Honours 438 Students, Launches Eco Drive

The Uttar Pradesh Police Family Welfare Association, Vaama Sarathi, held a ceremony at the Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Auditorium in Police Headquarters, Lucknow, on Saturday. The event felicitated 438 meritorious children of serving police personnel and launched an environmental awareness initiative called 'Vaama Eco Champs'. The programme was led by Meenakshi Singh, chairperson of Vaama Sarathi and wife of DGP Rajeev Krishna.

Recognition of Academic Excellence

Officials stated that the association honoured 438 students who scored 90% and above in high school and intermediate examinations for the 2024-25 academic session. This marks a significant increase from 267 students in the previous year. Additionally, 235 students who secured admission to professional courses were felicitated. These included 97 BTech aspirants entering IITs, NITs, and IIITs; 103 MBBS students, including selections in AIIMS and government colleges; 12 MTech candidates; and five MBA entrants, two of whom are in IIMs.

Educational Outreach and Support

Vaama Sarathi highlighted its broader outreach efforts. In collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation, the association trained 192 principals and teachers from Police Modern Schools. Career counselling sessions were conducted for 2,153 students across 71 districts, helping them navigate academic and career choices. Under the 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' initiative, at least 2,451 students participated in workshops focusing on exam preparation, stress management, and study skills. Mentorship and coaching tie-ups have also been expanded to support competitive exam aspirants.

Launch of Vaama Eco Champs

Meenakshi Singh launched the Vaama Eco Champs initiative, urging students to integrate environmental responsibility into their daily lives. She emphasised that students should actively promote water conservation, tree plantation, and sustainable practices, growing into responsible citizens.

Address by DGP Rajeev Krishna

DGP Rajeev Krishna congratulated the students, highlighting that success goes beyond marks and rests on discipline, curiosity, and perseverance. He encouraged them to dream big while staying rooted in values and contributing to society.

Office-bearers and representatives of Vaama Sarathi, along with leading educational and coaching institutions, were present at the event.
