Vamanapuram Rural Roads Set for Major High-Tech Transformation

Rural roads in the Vamanapuram ward are poised for a significant upgrade to high-tech standards, with two major road projects valued at Rs 22 crore scheduled for completion by February. According to Vamanapuram MLA D K Murali, the Muthuvila–Parappil–Chellanchi and Perayam–Kudavanad–Paluvally road projects will bring substantial improvements to local infrastructure.

Project Details and Scope

The comprehensive works involve the upgradation of a 13.5-kilometer stretch that connects Muthuvila and Nandiyodu, passing through Parappil, Chellanchi, Perayam, Kudavanad, and Paluvally. These projects are being executed in strict adherence to BMBC standards, ensuring high-quality construction. A key feature of the upgrade is the widening of the roads to 5.5 meters, which is expected to significantly enhance traffic flow and safety for commuters and residents alike.

Financial Allocation and Progress

The widening and resurfacing of the Muthuvila–Nandiyodu corridor alone is being carried out at a cost of Rs 13.5 crore. The remaining outlay covers other rural roadworks within the ward. However, some sections are still pending completion: specifically, a 2-kilometer stretch of the Kudavanad–Paluvally road and a 1.5-kilometer segment of the Perayam–Kudavanad road.

Additional Roadworks and Timelines

In addition to the main projects, work has commenced on the 4.5-kilometer Thannimoodu–Kudavanad–Perayam road, which is included under the Sabarimala package with an allocated cost of Rs 5 crore. Initial steps have also been taken to renovate the Kudavanad–Paluvally section. Once the retaining wall construction at the Chellanchi stretch is completed next week, tarring operations will be initiated. Furthermore, the Anakulam Tower Junction–R S Puram stretch is undergoing renovation as part of the broader infrastructure enhancement efforts.

Upcoming Projects and Contract Finalisation

The contract for upgrading the 2-kilometer Paluvally Junction–Anakulam Tower road to BMBC standards has been finalised at a tender cost of Rs 3.5 crore. Work on this segment is set to commence soon, adding to the overall momentum of rural road development in the area. These initiatives collectively aim to modernise the road network, improve connectivity, and boost the local economy by facilitating smoother transportation.
