Delhi Police Apprehends 10 Bangladeshi Nationals for Overstaying with Expired Visas
In a significant enforcement action, Delhi Police apprehended ten Bangladeshi nationals in outer Delhi on Friday for allegedly overstaying in India with expired passports and visas. The individuals were reportedly attempting to procure medical visas for Bulgaria, according to police statements.
Crackdown on Illegal Foreign Residents
The operation was conducted by the Foreigner Cell of the Outer district as part of an ongoing drive to identify foreign nationals residing illegally in the city. Police officials revealed that the team had been actively engaged in verification exercises and intelligence gathering to trace individuals staying without valid documents.
DCP (Outer) Vikram Singh stated, "Information was received about a group of foreign nationals, suspected to be from Bangladesh, who had continued to stay in India even after their visas expired. Inputs also suggested that they were trying to arrange medical visas for going to Bulgaria."
Surveillance and Arrest Details
On March 6, police received specific intelligence indicating that the suspects would be present near Peeragarhi Chowk, close to a DDA park. Officers promptly reached the location and placed the area under surveillance. When the suspects noticed the police presence, they allegedly attempted to flee but were swiftly intercepted and detained.

Document Verification and Legal Proceedings
Police reported that none of the apprehended individuals could produce valid identity or travel documents during questioning. Further checks confirmed that their passports and visas had expired, substantiating the allegations of illegal stay.
All ten individuals were taken into custody, and deportation proceedings were initiated in coordination with the Foreigner Regional Registration Office. This action underscores the authorities' commitment to enforcing immigration laws and maintaining security in the region.
