Mass Killing of Stray Dogs in Telangana Village Triggers Outrage and Legal Proceedings
In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves across the region, nearly 100 stray dogs were reportedly killed in Thummaipally village, located in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district. Formal Complaint Filed at Charapaka Police Station
Mudavath Preethi, a Cruelty Prevention Assistant with the Stray Animal Foundation of India, has taken a firm stand against this act by filing a formal complaint at the Charapaka Police Station. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the police received the complaint from Preethi, who is a resident of Nagarkurnool, on January 27. The incident is said to have taken place within the village under the jurisdiction of the local Sarpanch.
Details of the Alleged Animal Cruelty
In her petition, Preethi stated that in her official capacity, she received information indicating that approximately 100 stray dogs were killed over a period of 10 days by administering poisonous injections. The complaint further alleges that the Sarpanch and the Panchayat Secretary of Thimmaipally village were directly involved in carrying out these actions. Additionally, it was revealed that a Gram Panchayat worker named Ravi allegedly removed the carcasses from the scene.
Further inquiry into the matter uncovered a conversation between Adukapuram Goutham and an individual named Gopi, who was reportedly hired for the task. During this exchange, Gopi confirmed that the dogs had been poisoned over the preceding 10 days, corroborating the initial allegations.
Disposal of Bodies and Demands for Legal Action
The Sarpanch reportedly stated that the bodies of the deceased animals were disposed of approximately 2 kilometers away from the village. Based on these findings, the petitioner has urgently requested that immediate legal action be taken against all accused individuals in strict accordance with the law.

Animal rights activist Goutham has strongly condemned the incident, demanding stringent action against those involved.
