Organised Gang Steals 108 LPG Cylinders from UP Gas Agency in Night Raid
In a brazen overnight theft, criminals targeted a gas agency godown in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, making off with 108 LPG cylinders. Police are investigating the incident, which occurred on Friday night, and suspect the involvement of an organised gang due to the scale of the operation.
Details of the Theft at Karuna Gas Agency
The targeted warehouse, linked to Karuna Gas Agency, is situated in Mohalla Singahiya on Dudhwa Road. Agency owner Amit Singh reported that the thieves breached the boundary wall to gain entry, executing the theft without raising any suspicion. Of the stolen cylinders, 98 were filled with LPG, while 10 were empty, indicating a well-planned heist aimed at valuable resources.
Discovery and Police Investigation
The incident came to light around 7 am on Saturday when an employee arrived at the godown and found it ransacked. The owner was immediately informed, leading to a complaint being lodged at Palia police station. SHO Pankaj Tripathi highlighted the significance of the theft, stating, "Stealing 108 cylinders is substantial and likely involves multiple persons. However, no truck tyre marks have been found at the scene so far." He added that the role of the agency owner is under examination as part of the ongoing probe.
Context of High Demand and Security Measures
Notably, there has been a surge in demand for LPG cylinders since the West Asia crisis began on February 28, potentially motivating such thefts. Police are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas, including Dudhwa Tiger Reserve Road, to identify suspects and piece together the events of the night. The investigation aims to determine if this was an isolated incident or part of a larger pattern of organised crime targeting essential supplies.
