In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped while she slept on the rooftop of her house in a village under the Jahanganj police station area in Kanpur. The crime occurred two days ago, and an FIR was registered on Thursday.
Details of the Incident
According to the victim's father, the incident took place on Tuesday night. The girl was sleeping on the roof when, around 12:30 am, the accused, a neighbor from Madhwapur village, sneaked onto the rooftop. He gagged her mouth and raped her. When the girl raised an alarm, the accused threatened to kill her and fled by jumping off the roof.
Police Investigation Underway
After the victim was medically examined, the police intensified their search for the accused. Inspector-in-charge Poonam Awasthi confirmed that an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the suspect.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents demanding swift justice and enhanced security measures in the area. Police have assured that every effort is being made to catch the culprit.
