Nagpur Police Detain 13 Minors in Murder Case Over Rs100 Ganja Dispute

In a shocking development in Nagpur, the Ajni police have detained 13 minors, including two individuals allegedly involved in earlier murder cases, in connection with the killing of a 22-year-old vegetable vendor. The fatal incident stemmed from a dispute over a mere Rs100 during a ganja transaction, highlighting how trivial matters can escalate into deadly violence.

Swift Police Action Using CCTV Footage

The suspects were traced and rounded up within hours of the crime through meticulous analysis of CCTV footage from the area. This rapid response marks what police describe as a first instance in Nagpur where 13 juveniles have been named in a single murder case, underscoring the severity of the incident and the efficiency of modern investigative techniques.

Details of the Fatal Attack

The victim, identified as Sagar Salame, a resident of Sonjhari Nagar near Bhande Plot, was stabbed to death on Wednesday evening within the jurisdiction of the Ajni police station. His friend, Harshal Shinde, who was accompanying him at the time of the attack, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

According to police reports, the incident occurred near Jadu Mahal Chowk in Vishwakarma Nagar. Preliminary investigations reveal that the murder was a revenge attack following an altercation over Rs100 during a ganja transaction near Bhande Plot Chowk a few days earlier. During that initial argument, one of the juveniles had allegedly paid extra money, leading to a confrontation where Sagar reportedly assaulted one of the youths with a stick.

Revenge Plot Unfolds

Seeking retaliation, the accused minor allegedly lured Sagar to Jadu Mahal Chowk under the pretext of resolving the dispute. Sagar arrived at the spot riding pillion on Harshal's motorcycle. What began as a confrontation quickly escalated into violence, during which one of the accused stabbed Sagar in the chest.

Despite being critically injured, Sagar attempted to flee and reached Gali No. 7 in Bajrang Nagar, where he collapsed and later succumbed to his injuries. Harshal was also assaulted during the clash and remains in critical condition at the trauma care unit of GMCH, adding to the tragedy of the event.

Police Investigation and Aftermath

Following the incident, Ajni police launched an intensive investigation, scrutinizing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the perpetrators. All 13 minors involved were identified and apprehended within a few hours, and they have since been sent to a government shelter home. They are scheduled to be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Friday for further legal proceedings.

Senior officials, including Zonal DCP Rashmitha Rao and senior inspector Nitin Rajkumar, visited the crime scene and met with the victim's family to offer condolences and assure justice. Police stated that the motive appears to be revenge, turning a trivial financial dispute into a fatal attack, and noted that all the accused are from the same locality, indicating a localized conflict.

This case serves as a grim reminder of how minor disagreements can spiral out of control, leading to devastating consequences, and highlights the challenges law enforcement faces in dealing with juvenile crime in urban areas.
