14-Year-Old Domestic Help Found Dead in Lucknow; Family Alleges Rape Attempt and Murder

A tragic incident has shaken the Balaganj Railway Colony in Thakurganj, Lucknow, where a 14-year-old domestic help was discovered hanging at the residence of a former government official. The young girl's family has leveled serious accusations against the retired official's son, alleging an attempt to rape and subsequent murder.

Family Protests and Road Blockade

In a dramatic turn of events, angry family members placed the victim's body at a nearby intersection, blocking the road for nearly three hours. This protest highlighted their frustration and demand for justice. The victim, originally from Sitapur district, had been working as a domestic help at the house of the official who retired from the Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand.

Police Investigation and Official Statements

Vishwajeet Srivastava, DCP (West Zone), confirmed that a murder case has been registered against the accused, who works in the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies in Lucknow. The postmortem report indicated hanging as the cause of death, but viscera samples have been preserved for further forensic analysis. "Rape allegations were not found prima facie," Srivastava stated, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

Background and Suspicious Circumstances

The girl had been employed at the household for the last six months and resided there due to the former official's health issues—he suffered a brain hemorrhage, and his wife is a cancer patient. On the morning of March 8, the accused's mother informed the girl's father that his daughter had died by suicide. However, when the family arrived, they found the body lying on a bed, which raised immediate suspicions.

The girl's father alleged that there were injury marks on her body and signs of tying on her hands and legs, contradicting the suicide narrative. The family claims that the accused attempted to rape her and killed her when she resisted, with the accused and his family trying to pass it off as a suicide.

Aftermath and Legal Actions

Following the postmortem, the family escalated their protest by placing the body on the road on Sunday night, blocking the Balaganj crossing. Police intervened to pacify the protesters and subsequently registered a murder case against the accused. This case underscores broader concerns about the safety and rights of domestic workers, particularly minors, in urban settings.

The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover the truth behind this heartbreaking incident, with the community and family awaiting justice for the young victim.
