Kochi CWC Reunites Missing Teen with Family

The Ernakulam Child Welfare Committee (CWC) successfully repatriated a 14-year-old boy from Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, who had been missing from his home. The boy, diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), was discovered wandering near Aluva railway station on Sunday by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). He was subsequently handed over to Childline, which presented him before the CWC.

Initial Challenges in Identification

The boy was initially reluctant to share details about his hometown. The counselling team worked diligently to build rapport with him. On Tuesday, he finally disclosed that he was from Tiruchirappalli. The CWC immediately contacted their counterparts in Tamil Nadu, who alerted the police team handling missing children cases. The police located the boy's residence and informed his parents.

Authorities in Tamil Nadu arranged for the boy's father and uncle to travel to Kochi overnight. They arrived on Wednesday morning, and after completing all necessary procedures, the CWC repatriated the boy. CWC Chairperson Ullas Madhu praised the swift coordination between the two states, noting that the entire repatriation process was completed within a few hours.
