A 16-year-old boy lost his life in a tragic incident in Indore on Sunday when a banned Chinese manja kite string slit his throat while he was returning home from a trip with friends and family.
The Fatal Incident
The victim, identified as Gulshan, a resident of Omaxe City, was riding a motorcycle with his brother Arun and two friends, Vishal and Krishna, after visiting Ralamandal. According to police reports, the group was returning home when the deadly synthetic kite string suddenly snagged around Gulshan's neck.
Arun, the victim's brother, described the horrifying moment: "While Gulshan was riding the bike, the kite string suddenly came across the road. Vishal, Krishna, and I tried to grab the string, and we also received cuts on our hands." The sharp synthetic thread caused a deep cut on Gulshan's neck, leading to severe bleeding.
Emergency Response and Hospitalization
A compassionate family passing by in a car immediately stopped and rushed the severely bleeding boy to a nearby private hospital. However, due to the critical nature of his injuries, doctors at the private facility referred him to MY Hospital.
Tejaji Nagar police station TI Devendra Markam confirmed the severity of the situation: "Gulshan's injury was very serious. He had lost too much blood and succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital."
Investigation and Background
The tragedy occurred just five days after the district administration had officially banned the use of this synthetic thread. Police have registered a case, though jurisdictional matters require the case to be referred to Kanadia police station since the accident spot falls under their area.
Gulshan, who originally hailed from Thikri in Ashok Nagar, was an 8th-grade student who worked part-time to help support his family. The police have sent the body for postmortem examination as investigations continue into this preventable tragedy.
