Noida: About 17 people, including two minors, were injured after a bus rammed a divider and overturned on Mahamaya Flyover near Dalit Prerna Sthal in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
While most of the injured were discharged after first aid, an 18-year-old woman, who suffered serious injuries, is still undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi.
Details of the Accident
The accident occurred around 5.15am on Sunday. The impact led to the front wheel of the bus getting detached. Initial investigation found the driver lost control of the bus.
Noida ADCP Manisha Singh said the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel after dropping a passenger a few kilometres before the flyover. “Both the driver and conductor fled the scene after the crash and are currently being traced,” she said.
Rescue and Medical Response
Police and local residents launched a rescue operation after receiving an alert through the emergency helpline. At the time of the incident, 29 passengers were on the bus, which was travelling from Farrukhabad to Delhi. The injured were taken to the district hospital in Sector 39, Noida. Several passengers were later referred to hospitals in Delhi, including Safdarjung Hospital, for further treatment. Apart from the 17, the remaining suffered minor injuries and were not taken to a hospital.
