18-Year-Old Held for Theft from Widow's House in Ajmer

Ajmer: The Pisangan police have arrested an 18-year-old youth for allegedly stealing cash and jewellery from the house of a widow in Nalegaon village, Ajmer district, while she was away at work.

Details of the Incident

Station House Officer (SHO) Saroj Choudhary said the theft came to light on June 8 when Mann Bhar Devi (58), an MGNREGA worker, opened her cupboard after returning home and found her gold and silver jewellery missing along with Rs2.21 lakh in cash.

A complaint was lodged on June 9 by her son, Raju. He told police that the cash had been kept in the cupboard after the family sold agricultural produce.

Investigation and Arrest

Police launched a detailed investigation and questioned known offenders with records of house break-ins and thefts. Officers also examined possible links to outsiders and reviewed available footage to determine whether anyone from outside the village was involved.

Police intensified their probe by activating local informers and questioning suspects in the area. During the investigation, Setha Ram Gurjar (18), a resident of the same locality, allegedly confessed to the theft.

Recovery and Further Action

Police recovered the stolen jewellery from the accused and are verifying whether he has been involved in any other criminal activities.
